Odoo — What It Actually Costs in Egypt

Odoo is the most popular ERP choice for Egyptian SMEs, and for good reason. 173 certified partners operate in Egypt — more than any other platform. Arabic and RTL are built in. ETA e-invoicing modules exist.

License Pricing

Odoo uses tiered regional pricing. Egypt falls into Tier 2 or Tier 3, which means significantly cheaper than US/Europe:

PlanGlobal List PriceEgypt Estimate (Tier 3)
One App Free$0$0
Standard (all apps, hosted by Odoo)$31.10/user/month~$9.10/user/month (~455 EGP)
Custom (all apps + Studio + API + multi-company)$46.80/user/month~$13.60/user/month (~680 EGP)

Annual billing is about 25% cheaper than monthly. Heads up: Odoo can raise renewal pricing up to 7% per year.

Community Edition is free to license but costs more in the long run. No official support means you’re paying third-party consultants for every issue. Missing features (no Studio, no multi-company, limited accounting) mean you’re paying developers to build what Enterprise already includes. And upgrading between major versions is expensive and painful. Most Egyptian Odoo partners — including us — recommend Enterprise for any serious business use.

Implementation Costs (From Our Experience)

We’re an Odoo partner. Here’s what projects actually cost:

  • Small business (5–10 users, basic modules): 125,000–180,000 EGP. This covers discovery, configuration, basic customization, data setup, training for 1–2 people, and go-live support. Starts from 125,000 if it’s straightforward with minimal customization.
  • Mid-sized (20–50 users, multiple modules, customization): 250,000–400,000 EGP. More modules, more integrations, more complex workflows.
  • Large (50+ users, enterprise-scale): 400,000+ EGP. Depends entirely on scope.

Add 30,000–80,000 EGP for ETA e-invoicing compliance setup — this is mandatory for most businesses in Egypt and carries penalties up to 100,000 EGP for non-compliance.

Hosting & Ongoing Costs

Hosting TypeMonthly Cost
Odoo Online (Odoo hosts it)Included in license
Odoo.sh (custom modules, staging environments)$57–72/worker/month + license
Self-hosted (your own server or VPS)4,500–20,000 EGP/month depending on scale

Most Egyptian businesses self-host or use Odoo.sh. If you go with a partner like us for managed hosting, expect 4,500–20,000 EGP/month which includes the server, backups, monitoring, and a few hours of support.

Why Odoo Wins for Most Egyptian Businesses

Largest partner network in Egypt (173 partners). Arabic/RTL native. ETA e-invoicing built in. Regional MENA pricing makes it 2–3x cheaper than SAP or Oracle. Flexible enough for trading companies, manufacturers, retail chains, and service businesses. Need help choosing a partner? Read our guide to choosing an Odoo partner in Egypt.

SAP Business One — The Enterprise Tax

SAP is the name everyone knows. SAP Business One is their product for SMEs (up to ~500 users). It’s solid software. It’s also expensive.

What It Costs

Licensing (named users only — no concurrent user option):

License TypeOn-Premise (one-time)Cloud (monthly)
Starter Package (max 5 users)~$1,350/user~$45/user/month
Limited User (one module only)~$1,500–2,000/user~$50–90/user/month
Professional User (full access)~$3,000–4,000/user~$95–150/user/month

On-premise licenses come with 18–22% annual maintenance fees on top of the license cost. Every year. Non-negotiable.

Implementation: $25,000–100,000 (1.25–5 million EGP) for a small business. A real benchmark: a 70–80 employee manufacturer paid $332,000 all-in — that’s roughly 16.6 million EGP.

First-year reality for 10 cloud users: At minimum $95/user/month ($11,400/year licensing) + $25,000+ implementation = minimum 1.8 million EGP in Year 1. And that’s conservative.

No SAP partner in Egypt publishes pricing. B1-Solutions mentions a $12,000 minimum for non-manufacturing — that’s the only public data point in the entire Egyptian market.

When SAP Makes Sense

You’re 50+ users with complex manufacturing or supply chain needs. Your parent company or investors mandate SAP. You need deep industry-specific modules that Odoo doesn’t cover. Otherwise, you’re paying an enterprise tax for enterprise software you probably don’t need.

Oracle NetSuite — Global Power, Global Price

Oracle plays in two markets: NetSuite (cloud, for mid-market) and Fusion Cloud ERP (enterprise-only). For Egyptian businesses, NetSuite is the relevant product.

Pricing

  • Base platform: $999/month (list price)
  • Full user license: $129/user/month (recently increased from $99)
  • OneWorld (multi-entity): $10,000–30,000/year premium

But here’s something most people don’t know: Oracle offers up to 70% discount in emerging markets including the Middle East. That drops the effective cost to roughly $300/month base + $39/user/month. You have to negotiate for it — they won’t offer it unprompted.

Implementation: $15,000–25,000 for small deployments, $75,000–250,000 for mid-market.

Watch out for renewal traps. Oracle’s default annual uplift is 10%. In emerging markets you can negotiate this down to 3%, but if you don’t negotiate, your bill grows 10% every year automatically.

When Oracle Makes Sense

Multi-country operations. Global compliance requirements. 100+ users across subsidiaries. If you’re a Cairo-only SME, NetSuite is overkill and overpriced.

ERPNext — The Open-Source Alternative

ERPNext deserves serious consideration if budget is your primary constraint. The software is 100% free (GPL license) with no per-user fees.

What It Costs in Egypt

SizeImplementationTimeline
Small (basic setup)75,000–250,000 EGP ($1,500–5,000)2–4 weeks
Mid-size (multiple departments, custom reports)500,000–1,250,000 EGP ($10,000–25,000)1–3 months
Large (automation, integrations, multi-company)2,500,000–5,000,000 EGP ($50,000–100,000)3–9 months

Hosting starts from $25/month on Frappe Cloud, or self-host on a VPS for $10–150/month. Annual maintenance contracts typically run 15–25% of implementation cost.

The biggest ERPNext partner in Egypt is Data Value Solutions — Certified Frappe Silver Partner with 100+ projects across manufacturing, retail, healthcare, and education.

The Trade-off

Lowest total cost of ownership. No licensing trap. But: smaller partner ecosystem in Egypt compared to Odoo, less mature for complex workflows, and fewer out-of-the-box localizations for Egyptian compliance. If your team is tech-savvy and your workflows are standard, ERPNext is hard to beat on price.

Custom ERP — When Off-the-Shelf Doesn’t Fit

Sometimes your business process IS your competitive advantage, and you can’t standardize it into a packaged ERP. That’s when custom makes sense.

Egyptian Agency Rates

Most Egyptian software agencies charge $25–49/hour (Clutch data). Typical project costs:

ScopeModulesTimelineCost (Egypt)
Small/MVP2–3 core modules3–4 months400,000–1,500,000 EGP
Mid-size5–8 modules6–9 months1,500,000–6,000,000 EGP
Enterprise10+ modules12–24 months5,000,000+ EGP

The Egypt Advantage

Egypt is 2–3x cheaper than UAE and 30–50% cheaper than Saudi Arabia for equivalent custom development work. Same quality, lower cost of living, deep talent pool. Many MENA companies use a hybrid model: product ownership in UAE/KSA, engineering execution in Egypt.

Custom ERP makes sense when you’ve outgrown off-the-shelf, your workflow can’t be standardized, or you need integrations that no platform supports natively. For a deep dive on when to build custom, who builds in Egypt, and how to evaluate them, read our custom ERP development guide.

The Costs Nobody Talks About

Here’s where projects go sideways. According to industry research, 74% of ERP projects exceed their budget, with an average overrun of 40–60%. Here’s why.

Hidden CostTypical Range (EGP)What Happens
Data migration20,000–30,000 (mid-sized)Your data is messier than you think. Cleaning, mapping, and validating data from spreadsheets or legacy systems takes time.
ETA e-invoicing setup30,000–80,000Mandatory for most Egyptian businesses. Non-compliance penalties up to 100,000 EGP.
Integrations (per system)10,000–75,000Payment gateways (Paymob, Fawry), shipping APIs, accounting tools, e-commerce platforms. Each one is a project.
Change requests / scope creep10–30% over budgetThe single biggest cost surprise. Features you assumed were included aren’t in the original scope.
Currency riskVariableOdoo, SAP, and Oracle license in USD. When the EGP depreciates, your annual renewal gets more expensive.
Training (beyond basics)10,000–25,000 per department1–2 people can learn during implementation. Training an entire department is a separate effort.

The biggest surprise cost we see at Buildn Tech is scope creep. Clients assume certain features are included in the original scope — they’re not. When the system is being built and they realize they need an additional report, another integration, or a workflow they didn’t mention in discovery, that’s a separate quotation. Our advice: budget 20–30% above your implementation quote for these inevitables.

How to Budget: 3 Real Scenarios

Abstract pricing tables only tell you so much. Here’s what ERP actually costs for three typical Egyptian businesses.

Scenario A: 10-Person Trading Company in Cairo

Needs: Invoicing, inventory tracking, basic accounting, ETA e-invoicing compliance.

Cost ItemAmount (EGP)
Odoo Enterprise implementation (10 users, basic modules)150,000
Odoo license (10 users × ~455 EGP/month × 12)55,000/year
Managed hosting (small tier)60,000/year
ETA e-invoicing setup40,000
Year 1 Total~305,000 EGP
Year 2+ Ongoing~175,000 EGP/year

This is a straightforward deployment. Three to four months from kickoff to go-live. No complex integrations, minimal customization.

Scenario B: 40-Person Manufacturer in 10th of Ramadan

Needs: Production planning, multi-warehouse inventory, HR/payroll, full accounting, ETA compliance, integration with existing shipping provider.

Cost ItemAmount (EGP)
Odoo Enterprise implementation (40 users, full suite)350,000
Odoo license (40 users × ~680 EGP/month × 12, Custom plan)325,000/year
Managed hosting (mid tier)120,000/year
Data migration from legacy system30,000
Integrations (shipping, payment gateway)50,000
Year 1 Total~875,000 EGP
Year 2+ Ongoing~565,000 EGP/year

This is a six-to-nine-month project. The data migration alone can take a month if the legacy data is messy. SAP Business One is also an option at this scale, but expect Year 1 costs of 3–5 million EGP minimum.

Scenario C: 100+ User Retail Chain (5 Branches)

Needs: POS across all branches, centralized inventory, loyalty program, e-commerce integration, full back-office ERP, custom reporting.

Cost ItemAmount (EGP)
Implementation (Odoo Enterprise or Custom)500,000–1,000,000+
License + hosting + support300,000–500,000/year
Integrations + data migration100,000–200,000
Year 1 Total800,000–1,500,000+ EGP

At this scale, you’re deciding between heavily customized Odoo or a fully custom build. The right choice depends on how unique your workflows are. Nine to twelve months minimum for implementation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does ERP cost for a small business in Egypt?

For a small business with 10–20 users, expect to pay 125,000–250,000 EGP for implementation with Odoo Enterprise, plus 55,000–120,000 EGP per year for licensing and hosting. ERPNext is cheaper (75,000–250,000 EGP implementation, no license fees). SAP Business One starts at 1,000,000+ EGP.

Is Odoo free in Egypt?

Odoo Community Edition is free to license, but the total cost of ownership is often higher than Enterprise over 3+ years. You’ll pay more for third-party support, custom development to replace missing features, and difficult upgrades. Odoo Enterprise in Egypt starts around 455 EGP per user per month (Standard plan, MENA regional pricing).

What is the cheapest ERP system in Egypt?

ERPNext has the lowest total cost. The software is 100% free with no per-user fees. Implementation by an Egyptian partner starts from 75,000 EGP for a basic setup. Odoo is the next most affordable option with implementation starting from 125,000 EGP.

How long does ERP implementation take?

For a small business with basic needs: 2–8 weeks. Mid-sized company with multiple modules and customization: 3–6 months. Large enterprise with complex integrations and data migration: 6–12 months. The biggest timeline risk is data migration — it always takes longer than expected.

What are the hidden costs of ERP implementation?

The five costs that catch Egyptian businesses off guard: data migration (20,000–30,000 EGP for mid-sized), ETA e-invoicing compliance (30,000–80,000 EGP), third-party integrations (10,000–75,000 EGP each), scope creep and change requests (10–30% over budget), and currency risk (USD-denominated licenses get more expensive when the EGP depreciates).

Do I need ERP or just accounting software?

If you only need invoicing and bookkeeping, accounting software (like Daftra or QuickBooks) is enough and much cheaper. You need ERP when you’re managing inventory across locations, coordinating production, tracking sales and purchasing together, or when your team is wasting hours moving data between disconnected spreadsheets and tools. ERP connects everything into one system.
